China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Singapore SPEC has recently initiated the construction of four SPP40 platform supply vessels with each two of them constructed by Nantong Rainbow Offshore Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd. and Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd respectively. These vessels are equipped with containerized battery system of CSSC Ship Electric Technology (Wuxi) Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "SETH"), representing a significant advancement in the offshore oil and gas market, which has been stagnant for a long period. This project marks a pivotal achievement for SETH, as their domestically developed electric propulsion system and containerized battery products have achieved their first major success, heralding a promising entry into this highly competitive market.

The SPP40 project showcases a state-of-the-art vessel with an overall length of 81.75 meters, a beam of 17.40 meters, a depth of 7.8 meters, and a maximum draught of 6.3 meters, engineered to achieve a cruising speed of 13 knots. These vessels are outfitted with cutting-edge electric propulsion systems, featuring two sets of tube-tunnel bow thruster motor and two sets of fully rotatable main propulsion motor at the stern. They integrate advanced technologies, including containerized lithium batteries and a fuel monitoring system, establishing them as next-generation, environmentally friendly Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) designed to meet the evolving demands of the global market. In 2024, SETH achieved remarkable technological breakthroughs, notably with the development of its hybrid solutions such as S-DE power systems, which integrate battery technology, and the innovative S-Shaft generator combined with battery solutions. The widespread adoption of the Battery System+ has garnered significant market acclaim and strong endorsement from ship owners. Looking ahead, SETH is dedicated to further advancing its Battery System+ technology, driving the green transformation of the shipbuilding industry and solidifying its leadership in sustainable maritime innovation.
